On Welsh History Education and Unionist Hypocrisy

Wales is a country where it's history is not a mandatory subject within it's schools. "Why?" is a question that needs to be asked. I would argue that one of the reasons is that the generations of Welsh children that have basically been indoctrinated into UK history without any separate Wales ingredient would get the impression that Welsh history is British history, Westminster history at that.
History is after all written by the victors (so far) who are the Unionists
Therefore many Welsh children would be unaware of the history of Wales before it's assimilation into England and the rebellions against it.
I say all of this because I recall an interview I happened to have read with the director of the Victoria and Albert Museum (a place I've only been to once and where the only excitement was getting a bookmark for my collection) and ex Labour MP Tristram Hunt.
Now one of the interesting aspects was the title of the article. It quoted Mr Hunt as saying :
"We must never seek to hide the past"
